That crazy eclectic a cappella group, Toxic Audio is back. Thanks to last year's wildly successful Fringe show, they are better than ever. This year's sequel, Toxic Audio II Electric Boogaloo, held April 16-24, 1999 at Orlando's Fringe Festival promises more singing, more sound effects gags and a few electric surprises.
The five-voice group, described by Sentinel Critic Elizabeth Maupin as combining "the a cappella glossiness of the Nylons and the sly quirkiness of the Bobs" have had a busy year. After being seen in last year's Fringe by Disney executives, Toxic Audio was hired to perform full-time at the Disney MGM Studios. Since then they've been performing in venues all across the country. They've recorded their first CD. They've even warmed up the stage for their quirky heroes, The Bobs.
"I had no idea all this would happen," said Ren頒uiz, founder and director of Toxic Audio. "It's been a pretty wild ride."
For Ren頡nd the other members of Toxic Audio, (Jeremy James, Paul Sperrazza, Shalisa James and Michelle Mailhot), performing at this year's Fringe Festival is a homecoming of sorts. They hope to see many of the same faces in the audience at this year's show.
