In the late 70's and early 80's, Al Tovar was playing and touring with Latin influenced Top 40 Bands "Tierra" and "The City Limits".
In the early 90's, Al dreamt of a large horn-based band playing R & B music and began his search for musicians. Through his musical connections, Al obtained a professional horn section: Til Tribuzi (Trumpet), Niel Levonius (Trumpet), Rafael Rodriguez (Trumpet), Noli Mags/no, Jr. (Trombone), Jason McElroy (Baritone Sax) and Alan Klug (Tenor Sax).
The legendary trumpet player Fred Berry performs with the band on special occasions.
Guitarist Jimmy Cooke responded to Al's ad and soon became the band's Musical Director. Jimmy called in his old rhythm section Eric McElligott (Bass Guitar) and Craig Bata nides (Drums). Michael Crivello's keyboard adds a magical touch to each selection.
Suddenly the band took form and with lead singers Pamela J., David "Doc" Robinson and Freida Story, Heart & Soul was born.
Big Al's Heart & Soul has been leaving audiences spellbound with the horn-based mix of old and new R&B and Funk.
