On March 15, 1990, Christina Aguilera appeared on Star Search, but lost the competition
at second place. She signed a recording contract with RCA Records and her debut
album was released in August 1999 and reached the top of the Billboard 200 selling
eight million copies. Aguilera, along with three more hot female artists were
asked to record the remake of “Lady Marmalade” in 2001. The song peaked
at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks and was the most successful
airplay-only single in history. Christina Aguilera's fifth studio album, Back to Basics
was released August 15, 2006. It debuted at number one in the US, the UK and eleven
other countries. Her sixth album, Bionic was released in 2010 and peaked at number
one. She also starred in the movie, Burlesque and is a judge on the television
show, The Voice. Christina Aguilera has won an astonishing 47 awards for her music
and movies including 3 Grammys Awards.
