SPIRIT OF POLYNESIA offers the very finest in Polynesian Dance performances available in the Western United States. Our dancers, musicians and drummers are the most versatile, the most award winning, and the most professional. Performances are to live music and drumming and shows of short or long duration, for audiences big or small, can be formed with show groups from two performers to sixty to fit the most particular demands and needs of any client or occasion.

SPIRIT OF POLYNESIA costumes remain authentically traditional yet are extremely colorful and full, with some headdresses up to three and a half feet high. (Learning to dance in these is an art-form of its own).

SPIRIT OF POLYNESIA musicians play a wider assortment of authentic Polynesian instruments than any other performing group - an element that would please the most discriminating dance traditionalist. Such instruments: conch shells, Tahitian & Tongan drums, nose flutes, Hawaiian implements, ukuleles, Samoan punu (cracker can) to name a few.

SPIRIT OF POLYNESIA drummers are unequivocally on the leading edge of Polynesian drumming, especially in the very difficult and intense Tahitian style, having won eight 1st places in drumming competitions all around California since 1983.

An assortment of "fire" dances can be arranged to include the ever popular Samoan Fire Knife, Maori (New Zealand) Fire Poi, Samoan Fire Walk (extremely rare and dangerous-seldom seen today, even in Hawaii or Samoa), and various torch lighting ceremonies and dances.

Even a group fire knife is available where the dancing area allows. Few other Polynesian companies have even one fire dancer, we have five.

We have a fine reputation for consistent business dealings, on-time arrivals and on-time performances, a trademark not enjoyed by many other such performing groups in the area.

Ethnically, a large group of our performers are Samoan and Tongan. We also have a number of part Hawn, Chinese, Japanese, Puerto Rican, Philipino, Mexican, Portugese and Caucasian and other ethnic nationalities in our performances.

For locations that are outside, have atrium areas, or nearby outside walks, lawns, paths, etc. we can provide a "Sunset Torch Lighting Ceremony". To the sound of conch shells and vibrant live drumming, our dancers light "tiki torches" placed around the area. This is a memorable experience and serves to initiate a festive luau mood when performed early in the evening and builds anticipation for a full show later. We have torches available that burn for 3 to 4 hours.

During dinner or cocktail hour, our girls can perform hulas or certain other Polynesian dances right out among the tables and guests. This can also serve as a teaser for a full show to come later or after dinner.

One feature of our larger shows that we pride ourselves upon is the role of our men as dancers, and not just musicians and drummers. Our "Tane" perform the various fire numbers as mentioned before and are further accomplished at the very difficult and seldom seen dances of the far Western Polynesian island groups to include Tonga, Samoa, Fiji (Melanesia) and New Zealand. These are very dramatic and highly animated dance styles.

Our shows can be tailored to your occasion to make your affair uniquely personal with situational comedy connected to the peculiarities of your function or group, or we can get specific members of your party up and participating with the show.
